If you are looking to visit a place during your stay that captures the spirit of Boston, Faneuil Hall Marketplace in downtown Boston combines the best of the past and present as the nation’s premier urban marketplace. Faneuil Hall Marketplace boasts 49 shops, 44 pushcarts, 35 food stalls, and 14 restaurants and pubs. The Marketplace is located across the street from the waterfront in Boston and is comprised of restored 19th century buildings.
The key attraction of Faneuil Hall Marketplace is the local merchants that offer homemade delicacies, specialty items, and unique gifts. The Quincy Marketplace Colonnade features 35 food stalls that offer food like fresh seafood, desserts, salads, and gyros to be eaten on the Upper and Lower Rotunda butcher block tables or as you walk through the halls. If you would like a more formal lunch or dinner, try one of the 14 restaurants and pubs like Cheers, McCormick & Schmick’s, and Ned Devine’s Irish Pub. If you are wanting to do a little shopping, there are 49 shops that feature clothing, accessories, gifts, and unique jewelry. Another place to find great gifts is the Bull Market, which was the first place in the country to offer pushcart shopping. New England entrepreneurs and artisans showcase their unique creations at The Bull Market and offer guests a constantly changing product offering.
Another attraction at Faneuil Hall Marketplace is the festival-like atmosphere that is renowned for outdoor entertainment. You will be amazed by talented jugglers, mimes, acrobats, magicians, storytellers, musicians, clowns, and caricature artists. The Marketplace is the venue for many Boston annual events like the Street Performer’s Festival and Harborfest.
Faneuil Hall Marketplace is now offering $5 parking until February 29, 2012. The $5 parking is available all weekdays after 5pm and all day Saturday and Sunday.
